Follow your dreams

I got my visa to England at 21 years old. It was the happiest moment of my life.

I just left an abusive relationship and was dealing with some intense harassment, so this was a light at the end of a tunnel.

Then the illness came about a couple of months after I got the visa and a month before I was suppose to move overseas.

I remember being in the treatment room and having 3 people tell me to abandon my plans to go to England because you cannot with a mental illness survive.

If I had listen to them, my story be drastically different. I , thankfully did not.

I remember feeling more driven to prove that I am not my illness and that I am same person I was before. After about 4 months of recovery, I was able to buy that plane ticket one way and went on to live in the city of my dreams. Made amazing friends and of course there were hard times but I survived and thrived.

To anyone struggling with mental health issues, know you can still achieve your dreams. You make have to go about doing in away you did not except but you never hopeless. You can always achieve anything, the world is your oyster and you don’t know what the future will hold.
